WASCO, Calif. (AP) — A gun and marijuana were being seized from a pupil at a San Joaquin Valley superior school, but authorities reported there was no sign the youth intended to use the weapon.

Staff members took the objects from the college student on Monday at Independence Higher Faculty in Wasco and referred to as deputies, the Kern County Sheriff’s Business office claimed in a statement.

“The handgun was secured with no incident by university staff,” the business office mentioned.

The loaded firearm was explained as a 9 mm illegally created “ghost gun.”

“Based on the details available to deputies, it is thought to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing danger to the learners,” the statement stated. “There is no quick information and facts that the pupil brought the gun to university with the intent to damage pupils or team.”

The student was arrested and booked into Juvenile Corridor for becoming in possession of a weapon at college, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of ammunition on university grounds, and possession of marijuana on school grounds.

Wasco is a small agricultural community about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northwest of Bakersfield.
